The Snow Globe

Life sure does make some turbulent turns.  A little over a year ago when my ex took off, a very wise man, not to mention a very dear friend of mine, said, “Man, sorry he really shook up your snow globe.”   That’s the best analogy I have ever heard in my life and it stuck.  Ever since then my snow globe has been having a blizzard!  Life has been anything but a snail’s pace.  If you’ve read my maureen page then you know that I met and started dating Brian a little over a year ago.  On May 2nd of this year we got engaged and we’ve been slowly but surely planning our wedding for April 11, 2009 ever since.  Well, not any more!  Everything has changed.  Literally, it all changed within minutes.

On Wednesday (09/17) Brian got a plane to San Francisco for a business trip.  That night I took a home pregnancy test and found out I was pregnant.  Before I could recover from my shock (and excitement) I called him and uttered the six words I never, ever thought I would say – “You’re going to be a daddy!”  That Saturday I flew up to San Francisco to join Brian to see him for the first time since he heard the news.  After gathering ourselves we finally started telling the parents and immediately started re-thinking the wedding.  Ironically, I got a call on Friday from the bridal store with the news that my dress was in.  All I could think of was “I’m never going to fit into that dress by April!”

To make a long story short Brian has brilliantly organized a new wedding at the Bellagio in Las Vegas to take place in 10 days!  Now, we are slowly trying to “undo” (wouldn’t it be nice if we could just press “CTRL+Z” or should I say “command+Z”?) all the plans we’ve already made for the Santa Barbara wedding.  The last week has been a complete whirlwind!

Thank God for shaking up my snow globe!
